East Catholic (Sammamish, Wash.) TE Hunter Bryant received an offer from Auburn on Monday.

Growing up in Sammamish, Wash., Eastside Catholic tight end Hunter Bryant dreamed of having the opportunity to play college football in the Southeastern Conference.

“Being a kid and watching college football, I always saw the SEC schools dominate and they always were in the championship game,” Bryant said. “It’s always been a dream to go down and play for one of those schools.”

Bryant, who is ranked the No. 3 tight end, now has the chance. A conversation with Auburn tight ends coach Scott Fountain on Monday resulted in it.

“Coach Fountain said they are offering me,” Bryant said. “It was a huge offer for me, my first SEC offer. Coach Fountain seems like a really good person. We had a really nice conversation and I really enjoyed talking to him. He asked me what life up here is like and then told me about Auburn. It sounded really nice. Auburn sounds like a great college program.”

Although Sammamish is nearly 3,000 miles from Auburn, Bryant hopes to find a way to visit.

“I hope I can visit,” Bryant said. “I’m definitely going to try to make it down there. I just have to find a way, and if I do, I’ll definitely visit. Auburn most definitely is one of my top schools. Being the great football school that they are, that definitely puts them near the top. I’m going to do a lot more research on them, see what life is like down there.”

Auburn joined Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon State and Utah on Bryant’s offer list.

“I’m looking at everybody right now,” Bryant said.

Rivals ranks Bryant, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 235 pounds, No. 144 in the Rivals250 and the No. 2 player from Washington.

As a junior, Bryant had 48 receptions for 1,137 yards and 17 touchdowns.
