Just two minutes after the clock struck midnight Auburn players were taking advantage of the new NIL rules which allow players to benefit off their name, image and likeness.
The first to announce was quarterback Bo Nix, who announced a partnership with Milo's Tea Company. Nix was not only the first Auburn athlete, but the first athlete in the central time zone to announce a NIL deal.
Nix was followed up by running back Shaun Shivers, who announced he would be working with Yoke Gaming. Yoke Gaming allows players to join the site and fans to pay to be able to play video games with the players. Shivers also announced plans to open a merchandise company.
Shivers, Ja'Varrius Johnson, Jaylin Simpson, Zakoby McClain, Ladarius Tennison, Zion Puckett, Devan Barrett, Marquis Burks, Dre Butler, Eric Reed Jr., J.J. Evans and Joko Willis have all also announced they will be working with Yoke.
On the basketball side of things, Devan Cambridge is also with Yoke.
Auburn safety Smoke Monday announced his partnership with the Instagram page CollegeFootballEdits. The page has over 74,000 followers.
The first non-football athlete to announce a deal with Derrian Gobourne of the gymnastics team. In 2019 Gobourne won a share of the NCAA national championship in the vault category.
Now, she's partnering up with Salute Leo's. She will be partnering with the company and designing a leotard of her own.
In less than a day, Auburn has over 15 athletes in known NIL deals.
