Transfer defensive end commits to Tigers

Auburn's defensive line just got bigger.

The Tigers added defensive end Marcus Bragg from the transfer portal Sunday, following an official visit to the Plains.

"It feels wonderful being that this team took me in," Bragg said. "I just feel loved. I’m happy to be here."

Bragg measured in at 6-5 and 268 pounds. He plans to report Tuesday.

Bragg spent a season at Mississippi Delta Community College before heading out west to Arizona Western College. Following his two years at JUCO, he committed to Western Kentucky.

During his three years with the Hilltoppers, Bragg recorded 37 tackles, three sacks and forced a fumble. His breakout season at WKU was his third year, where he appeared in all 14 games — recording 26 tackles, three tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

"It means a lot coming from Conference USA," Bragg said. "It’s a big step, a big leap. So I have a lot to prove. I have a lot more improvement. I got a bigger shoe to fill in."

Auburn plans to use Bragg as an edge, where he'll have a chance to make an immediate impact. Playing time is something edge linebackers coach Roc Bellantoni preached to Bragg.

"[Bellantoni] just told me that there’s only two people really playing right now and how we’d all be rotating," Bragg said. "I’d be getting a lot of plays, a lot of sacks. It’s going to be a good year."

Bragg comes in at 6-foot-5, 268 pounds and will have a year of eligibility remaining.
