Pasco (Dade City, Fla.) three-star athlete Jayvaughn Myers has had quite a morning.
Myers, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, awoke to an offer from Florida State, added one from Auburn moments later and received invitations to play in both the Under Armour All-America Game and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
"It's been a pretty good morning," Myers said. "Definitely a good morning."
It started with the two new offers.
"I talked to Coach (Lawrence) Dawsey at Florida State and he told me he showed the other coaches my film and they liked me and wanted to offer," Myers said. "And then I talked to Coach (Dameyune) Craig at Auburn and he had showed the head coach (Gus Malzahn) my film and he wanted to offer me."
Both caught him by surprise.
"I wasn't expecting it," Myers said. "It was surprising, super surprising."
Myers now has offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Wisconsin, Louisville, Marshall, South Florida and Tulane, among others. He'll visit his newest offer this weekend.
Myers and his half-brother, five-star receiver and former Auburn commitment Nate Craig-Myers, both will be in Auburn this weekend for the Tigers' "Big Cat" event.
"I'm looking forward to it," Myers said. "I want to talk with the position coaches and the head coach. They are recruiting me on both sides of the ball, at receiver and corner, so I want to talk to them and see what they have to say."
Myers already has high interest in the Tigers.
"I don't have a list, but if I had one, Auburn would be pretty high on it," he said. "I like how the school is about family. They don't just talk to you about football. Coach Craig really seems like he cares about you and that's what I want in a school."
Myers also would like to play with, and not against, his half-brother. But it won't be the determining factor in his decision.
"It would be ideal to go to the same college," Myers said. "We want that to happen, but if we can't we'll go our separate ways. We just want to do what's best for each other.
"We want each other to have a good opportunity to play in college and make an impact to whichever school we go to."
Myers doesn't plan to make his decision in the near future.
"I'll probably wait and take some visits," he said.
Myers recorded 31 tackles and five pass break-ups his junior season. He also returned punts, averaging 11.6 yards per return.
