There is a tendency to consider all prospects in the same light, to categorize all four-star guys in the same manner or judge youngsters based on anything other than first-hand data.

It's an ineffective and potentially dangerous approach.

The simple fact is that all young players are not created equal. Some need time to adjust to life on a college campus -- eventual No. 2 overall pick Greg Robinson redshirted his first season in 2011 despite being talented enough to play -- while others arrive with the fitness, awareness, work ethic and coachability of a fifth-year senior.
