AUBURN | Greenville five-star defensive end Marlon Davidson committed to Auburn in September. Whether or not he enrolls on the Plains in January will be decided in December.
As in Dec. 16. Tomorrow. Wednesday.
"I will make my final choice," Davidson said on Tuesday. "I will sign with a school at 8 o'clock in the morning."
Davidson, who is ranked the No. 9 player in 2016 and the No. 1 strongside end, isn't certain his commitment to Auburn will hold. Or if he is, Davidson's keeping it a secret.
"I don't know, yet," Davidson said. "I'll make my final decision in the morning. The schools still in it are Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida and LSU."
Whichever school Davidson signs a Financial Aid Agreement with on Wednesday will be the school he enrolls in for the spring semester. No more "75 percent committed," which Davidson claimed since early November was his confidence level in his commitment to Auburn.
"I'm done after tomorrow," Davidson said. "I'm done when I sign those papers."
Davidson has taken several visits, but only one official visit. The early enrollee was in Auburn on Dec. 4-6 and left without much doubt in his decision or what he wants in a college.
"You want somebody to actually want you and actually needs you," Davidson said. "That's what school you want to go to. You don't want to go to a school that doesn't really need you and will just hang you up on a shelf in a trophy case. You don't want that.
"You walk around Auburn and see everybody and they say 'War Eagle!' That's what you want to be around. Auburn is a school where everybody should want to come to."
Rivals.com ranks Davidson the No. 2 player in Alabama in 2016.
