Lincoln High seems to produce D-I athletes year-in and year-out and 2010 was no exception. White picked up an offer from Auburn in December and didn't waste much time accepting it. White was the Tigers' 22nd commitment in the '10 class.
High School Stats: White played quarterback at Lincoln leading them to a 9-4 season and 11th consecutive district championship in 2009. As a junior, had 640 rushing yards on 115 attempts including six touchdowns, and completed 76-of-161 passes for 1,063 yards while throwing 14 TDs.
What has your workout routine been like in preparation for Auburn?
I go up to the school at about twelve and work out for about an hour and do everything. Then I go out on the field and while the team is practicing I run ten gasses and then run some hundreds. Then I stretch and do some core stuff.
Are you at the weight you want to be when you report to Auburn?
Yeah pretty much. I don't want to be too big because I know they'll put some weight on me. About 186 is a good weight.
Looking back at the '10 class, was there a signee that you were surprised to see on the list come Signing Day?
I was surprised to see Corey Lemonier. I thought he was going to Florida State, definitely.
Which coaches were mainly involved in your recruitment to Auburn?
Coach (Phillip) Lolley and Coach (Gene) Chizik talked to me a lot. Also, Coach (Gus) Malzahn talked to me from time to time and Coach (Curtis) Luper. But mainly (I talked to) Coach Lolley.
What position do you expect to play at Auburn?
Right now it is a tossup between quarterback and corner. Wherever I fit best is where I'm going to play. Also kick returns, I'm going to try everything. I want to see where I can fit best to contribute to the team.
Do you have a preference between playing offense or defense?
I want the ball in my hands to make plays, so I guess offense.
What do you think the '10 signing class is capable of accomplishing at Auburn?
I think our class just started a new era for Auburn. This is a refreshing year. This is Gene Chizik's first true, full recruiting class. The one that he wanted to fit his schemes. Only good things are coming, like championships. Outside of that it's a family and starting that tradition back up strong.
Of your fellow '10 signees, who do you think can make an instant impact on the offensive or defensive side of the ball?
On the offensive side of the ball Michael (Dyer) will be thrown in there instantly and then there's Trovon Reed. On the defense I think LaDarius Owens and Jake Holland because they have to step up early. I think once they get their feet wet they'll start making plays for us.
If you hadn't signed with Auburn, who would you have signed with?
It would have been Southern Miss or South Carolina.
What made you choose Auburn over those other schools?
It's in the SEC and it's close to home. And the fans are great. Before I even signed the fans were talking about how they were excited about my opportunity at Auburn. I just liked the family feel.
Are you qualified, and if so, when do you plan to report?
I'm definitely qualified and I'll report June 20.
What's one thing you would want a future recruit to know about Auburn they may not already know?
(On the surface) it's a small town and based on football. But it's not just about football; it's a family environment and about becoming a better man.
If you had a message to Auburn fans, what would it be?
Beat Bama. We're planning on beating them, Florida, and everybody the next few years.
