Report: Auburn to play in 2021 Battle 4 Atlantis

The Tigers will be playing in paradise the season after next.

Auburn is among the field for the 2021 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. Other teams include Michigan State, Arizona State, Loyola Chicago, UConn, Syracuse and VCU. The eighth and final team is yet to be determined, Rothstein said.

Each team in the group with the exception of Arizona State has at least one Final Four appearance in the past 10 years.

The Battle 4 Atlantis has taken place since 2011 on Thanksgiving week in Nassau, Bahamas. It traditionally is a competitive bracket with at least a few recognizable powers among the field. Participating programs receive $2 million.

Next season's tournament is set to feature Creighton, Duke, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Utah, West Virginia, Wichita State and Memphis.

Auburn last season won the early season tournament in participated in, beating Richmond in the Legends Classic final in Brooklyn in November. Next year, the Tigers are slated to compete in the Orlando Invitational over Thanksgiving week, against Belmont, Boise State, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Saint Louis, Siena and Xavier.
