AUBURN | No. 1 Auburn made 14 3-pointers in a 92-82 win at Ole Miss three and a half weeks ago.

The Tigers, which are in a bit of a shooting slump, will look to get back on track from beyond the arc Wednesday night against the Rebels at Neville Arena.

“I thought one of our best efforts all year long was at Ole Miss,” said AU coach Bruce Pearl. “I thought we sustained some great runs. But we shot it exceptionally well and played exceptionally well. I thought both teams played well.”

Auburn dominated the inside in the first matchup with Johni Broome totaling 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Dylan Cardwell 10 points and 13 rebounds. AU shot .484 percent from the floor and out-rebounded OM 41-30.

But in the last two home games, wins over Arkansas and Georgia, AU has shot just .416 from the floor including 10 of 46 from 3-point range

“Let's take good, open 3-pointers early. And then you see one or two go in, then maybe we can take some tougher ones,” said Pearl.

“I thought we've taken some tough, early three point shots where maybe shots we could turn down to get better shots which would maybe result in a better percentage.”

The Tigers, and particularly Denver Jones, have excelled at limiting opponent’s best guards all season. But that wasn’t the case against the Rebels with point guard Sean Pedulla scoring 29 points on 10 of 16 field goals. He also had five rebounds, two assists and three steals.

“Padula got eight or nine free throws in that game, and that's way more than he normally gets,” said Pearl. “So we had to defend him without fouling and he drove by us with either hand and just did a great job. Made some tough shots. You know, he was terrific."

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
