AUBURN | Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, N.C.) Rivals100 quarterback Austin Kendall plans to make a commitment soon, and he'll choose between Oklahoma, Auburn and Kentucky when he does.
The four-star prospect has visited each of the three schools, including a trip to Auburn on Friday.
Kendall, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, arrived in Auburn late Thursday night and stayed until mid-day Friday. He spent a lot of time with Auburn offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Rhett Lashlee.
"I've been here a couple of times, but this was my first time back since they offered me," Kendall said. "They were showing me their interest and letting me know they want me at Auburn.
"(Lashlee) was showing me how I fit into their offense, and how they are going to a more pro-style. It was great sitting down with him. I've always had a great relationship with him and the whole staff. He's really a good guy."
Kendall, ranked the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the country, said Lashlee is one of the reasons Auburn is high on his list.
But not the highest. Not right now.
"Auburn is definitely up there," Kendall said. "I like their offense, the quarterback situation and the coaches. I like how they use their quarterbacks to their strengths.
"But I would say Oklahoma (is at the top) right now. It's just a feeling (at Oklahoma), but I got a feeling here (at Auburn), too, so it could weigh out."
Before leaving Auburn, Kendall and his parents met former Auburn quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton. Newton, the former No. 1 draft pick and current quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, is attending classes at Auburn this semester.
"That was my first time meeting him," Kendall said. "That was pretty cool."
As for a decision, Kendall hasn't set a date.
"I don't have a timeframe," he said. "But it will be pretty soon."
Rivals.com ranks Kendall the No. 27 overall player in 2016 and No. 3 prospect from North Carolina.
