Jatarvious Whitlow was certain Monday night that New Orleans would be his new home. His mind was made up. Whitlow was set on signing with Tulane.

And then Auburn called.

"Coach (Gus) Malzahn called me and said he wanted me on offense; to play receiver and return punts and kicks," Whitlow said.

One call is all it took.

"It felt great," Whitlow said. "I hadn't talked to Auburn in a while, and then they called two days ago and said they wanted me to sign."

It was last-minute, but Whitlow didn't mind. He signed with the Tigers on Wednesday.

"I'm very excited," Whitlow said. "I’m really close to my mom and we live right up the road in Lafayette."

Whitlow played quarterback at Lafayette, where as a senior he passed for 2,292 yards and 29 touchdowns and rushed for 2,147 yards and 30 scores.
