AUBURN | Peachtree Ridge (Suwanee, Ga.) junior linebacker Breon Dixon doesn't have to worry about getting his mother's blessing should he decide to attend Auburn.
Not after Thursday.
Dixon, ranked the No. 7 inside linebacker in 2017, and his mother made the trip to Auburn for a half-day visit.
"It was a great visit," Dixon said. "It went very well. My mom wanted a chance to meet the coaches, and Coach (Will) Muschamp and all of them talked to her.
"We talked a lot with Coach Muschamp and Coach (Lance) Thompson. She got a good feeling from all of them. She really liked it. She liked it a lot."
Dixon did, too.
"I got a good feel for all the coaches," he said. "They are all good coaches and good people."
Dixon, who is six feet tall and weighs 215 pounds, has early offers from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, TCU and Tennessee, among others. Dixon hasn't narrowed his options, but expects Auburn to make the cut when he does.
"Auburn is high," he said. "They have shown me a lot of attention, showed me how much they like me, so they are real high.
"I don't have a top 10 or a list or anything, but once I do, Auburn is going to be in there. It's close to home. My mom likes it. It's SEC football."
Dixon is just a junior, but doesn't have as much time to decide on a college as others in the '17 class.
"I'm going to try and commit next summer because I'll be enrolling early," Dixon said. "I've talked to my counselors at school and they said if I want to graduate early I can."
Dixon plans to finish summer visits this weekend. He's scheduled to be in Florida on Friday and Tennessee on Saturday.
Rivals ranks Dixon the No. 149 player in the '17 Rivals250 and No. 20 overall player in Georgia.
