Chase Lasater is taking his first visit to Auburn this weekend, but it likely won’t be the last.

Lasater, who is ranked the No. 4 fullback in the 2017 class, already is heavily considering signing with the Tigers.

“I already pretty much see myself playing there,” Lasater said. “But I want to check it out and make sure everything is great.”

Lasater, from Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., is scheduled to arrive in Auburn on Friday. His parents will join him on what will be an official visit.

“I want to see the facilities and everything, the school and the department of education because that’s what I’ll be studying,” Lasater said. “I’m looking forward to meeting the coaching staff, and hoping Coach (Gus) Malzahn likes me as much as the rest of the staff does. I’m also looking forward to meeting some of the players and hanging out with (fullback) Chandler Cox.”

Lasater already is familiar with Scott Fountain, Auburn’s tight ends/H-back and special teams coach. Fountain has visited Lasater on multiple occasions, including an in-home visit on Monday.

“Coach Fountain came over and ate dinner with my family and me and hung out,” Lasater said. “He talked about what we would be doing on the visit, what it’s like to play football at Auburn and what I would be doing if I go there.”

Although Lasater could end up signing with Auburn, he isn’t going into the weekend visit with intentions to commit.

“If Auburn gives me that good of a feel I may end up committing, but as of now I’m just going to see how it goes,” Lasater said.

Lasater doesn’t have a visit scheduled for Jan. 27-29, which is the final weekend before Signing Day. However, he hasn’t ruled out a trip to Miami.

“I’m thinking about taking a trip down to Miami because Coach (Todd) Hartley wants me down there, but I’m not 100 percent sure I will,” Lasater said.

The visit might not be needed.

“I can definitely see myself playing football at Auburn,” Lasater said. “Hopefully this weekend will go great.”
