AUBURN | The No. 3-ranked safety visited Auburn and already plans to return.

Devon Hunter, who is No. 48 in the Rivals100, left his short visit to the Plains on Sunday with intentions of returning for a longer stay in December.

“I really enjoyed myself,” Hunter said. “It was great getting to meet the head coach (Gus Malzahn) and getting to know the coaching staff more was great, too.”

Hunter, from Indian River in Chesapeake, Va., spent a lot of time during his visit with Auburn’s first-year secondary coach Wesley McGriff. He also spent time learning about Auburn and its traditions.

“The visit was great because I got to know a lot about the school, about things I didn’t know,” Hunter said. “I learned about some of the traditions, the stadium, the Heisman and the schemes and plays they run. It was all really interesting and I took it all in.”

Hunter has several offers, including one from Auburn. He hasn’t narrowed his list, but plans to later this summer. Auburn will be on it.

“They are definitely going to make my top-10 list,” Hunter said. “I should have that out in August, but Auburn will be on it. And I will be back here in December.”
