Worth County (Ga.) power forward Anfernee McLemoreClick [rl]Here to view this Link. is a priority for Auburn in the 2016 class, and he knows it.
Bruce Pearl has made sure of it.
"I talk to Auburn a lot," McLemore said. "I've been talking to Coach Pearl, Coach (Chuck) Person and Coach (Todd) Golden."
The three coaches attended one of McLemore's games during the recent evaluation period. Pearl attended two.
"They all came and watched me play in Las Vegas," McLemore said. "That felt great. I think I played pretty well. And then Coach Pearl watched me at a camp in New York."
McLemore, 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds, doesn't have an offer from Auburn, but believes that could change soon. The Tigers' interest isn't fading, and neither is his interest in Auburn.
"I'm still very interested in Auburn," McLemore said. "They are showing a lot of interest, but want me to be patient (about an offer)."
He plans to.
"I feel pretty good about it," McLemore said. "I am keeping them high on my list. I'm just being patient."
One offer McLemore is no longer waiting for is Yale. The Bulldgos recently offered, and McLemore also is receiving increased interest from Stanford.
The offer from Yale grabbed his attention.
"I was very excited about it," McLemore said. "It's definitely a big-time offer."
McLemore now lists Auburn, Yale, Brown, Rice, Stanford and Georgia Tech as his top group. He'll take an official visit to Yale on Sept. 11-13, and an unofficial visit to Auburn on Aug. 22. He plans to sign in November.
McLemore averaged 19 points, 11.8 rebounds and 6.4 blocks per game as a junior.
