Makayla Martin was at her best against BYU Saturday.

Auburn is grateful for that.

The Tigers once again failed to create much at the plate in the Puerto Vallarta College Classic and built only one rally that yielded runs. Still, Martin held BYU in check from start to finish and that was enough in the Tigers' 3-0 victory.

Freshman KK Crocker put Auburn on the board with a fourth-inning RBI single. Catcher Carlee Wallace followed along later in the inning with a two-RBI single up the middle, which yielded a three-run margin.

BYU created some drama in the seventh inning after getting two runners on base with one out. Martin ended the threat quietly, however, by coaxing a pair of groundouts to consummate the victory.

Auburn finished 3-1 in Mexico and now heads home for a 21-game home stand.
