It’s 'go, go, go' for Snow at Auburn

AUBURN | Tannon Snow originally committed to Clint Myers and Arizona State when she was a freshman at Chino Hills (Calif.) High. When Myers left ASU following the 2013 season, she chose to go to Washington instead of following Myers to Auburn.

But after playing as a freshman for the Huskies, Snow has reunited with Myers in Auburn and couldn’t be happier.

“It’s no rest, it’s all go, go, go, go,” Snow said. “It’s a lot different and I like it a lot. Back to what I’m used to.”

Snow said she already has a great connection with Myers and his coaching staff.

“I learned a lot. These coaches, there’s a lot of information that you gather from them,” Snow said. “To take it all in it’s a lot at first, but once you take it all in it’s crazy. It’s unbelievable. They make you buy into what they’re teaching and that’s what I like a lot. I’m able to buy into what they’re teaching us and it’s been great.”

Snow is working at first base where Auburn must replace third-team All-American Jade Rhodes and her 20 home runs and 74 RBI. Myers sees similar power potential in Snow.

“She can swing it,” Myers said. “She's coming from the Pac so she's got quality at-bats against quality pitchers. We tried to get her when we were over at Arizona State but she didn't want to come to Auburn the first time but she wanted to come to Auburn the second time.

“She's a very offensive player. She's got a chance to be a very good defensive player. She's not used to us putting the emphasis on the feet. For defense, you've got to have good feet. If she can continue to improve her footwork, she's going to be a very good defensive player on either corner. She's doing both right now if something should happen to Coop.”

As a freshman at Washington, Snow batted .230 with five doubles, six home runs and 24 RBI. Although full stats weren’t provided, Snow hit at least four home runs in four fall exhibition games at Auburn.

At Chino Hills she set state records with 60 career home runs and 212 RBI.

“Tannon is awesome,” senior shortstop Haley Fagan said. “She’s a very powerful hitter. She’s a great teammate. She’s always laughing. She’s very, very positive. She’s good in the field, I like her at first base, but she’s definitely going to be a great asset to our team.”

Snow will be joined by her younger sister next season. Taylon Snow, who FloSoftball ranked the No. 1 overall player in the 2017 class, signed with Tigers in November.

“She’s very excited,” Tannon Snow said. “She actually just made the junior national team, so that’s pretty exciting. She’s excited to get out here and be back with me.”

And Tannon is looking forward to having her sister join her in a town which has already started to feel like a second home.

“It’s a lot different. It’s a smaller town than where I come from, but I like the small town feeling,” she said. “I already told my parents I’m not coming back to California because I like it out here so much. People are a lot nicer and friendly.”
