In-state CB visits Auburn, will return

AUBURN | Cordale Flott’s first visit to Auburn won’t be his last.

Flott, a cornerback from Saraland, spent Thursday in Auburn meeting with the coaches, touring campus and watching the Tigers’ first practice of the spring.

“The visit was very good. I had a really good time,” Flott said.

Flott’s mother, father, sister and cousin all were with him during the visit.

“We met with all of the coaches, watched highlights, took pictures and watched practice,” Flott said. “I liked practice. They are a good team, a good program. All of the players were out there working to get better.”

Flott met with defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson, area recruiter Travis Williams and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.

“They showed me that not everything revolves around football,” Flott said. “They would take care of me. They’re like family. Coach Steele is a caring person. I can tell that already. He feels I would be a good fit in their defense, and that I could make an impact if I go there and earn it.”

Flott also met with coach Gus Malzahn.

“He’s a great person,” Flott said. “He’s really strict with the way he handles his program and the football players.”

Flott now has visited both in-state SEC schools and has the pair in his top two. He’ll visit Ole Miss on Saturday.

“Auburn is in there with Alabama,” Flott said. “I built better relationships with the coaches and liked the visit.”

Flott doesn’t plan to make an early commitment. He still has other schools to visit.

“I’m going to wait it out and visit more schools, see how everything goes,” Flott said.
