AUBURN | Jordyn Peters grew up dreaming of playing for Auburn. After a standout performance at Saturday’s camp, the cornerback from Muscle Shoals (Ala.) High now has that opportunity.

“They told me right after I got done with one-on-ones to make sure I come to see them to talk to them and that's when they told me I had a scholarship,” Peters said.

“It was Coach (Herb) Hand, Coach Gus (Malzahn) and Coach (Wesley) McGriff. I was excited because I've been an Auburn fan since I can remember. My room used to be Auburn. It used to be orange and blue and I had Auburn stuff everywhere. I've been coming to games since I can remember. It's been a dream come true for this offer.”

Peters, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, said he thought about committing on the spot but wants to take a little time. He’s already scheduled trips to Georgia Tech, Duke and Virginia Tech next week.

He could return to Auburn for next Saturday’s picnic.

“I'm going to make sure it's the right fit by getting out and seeing all the colleges I can,” he said.

Peters now has more than a dozen offers including Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Duke and Louisville.

Peters tested well during the first portion of Auburn’s camp running a 4.45 40-yard dash and posting a 40-inch vertical. He followed that up by a strong performance in 1-on-1 drills.

“(McGriff) told me he liked my physicality on film,” Peters said. “He told me the only thing I could really improve on is my strength, get stronger and be more physical with my hands. Other than that, they said they like everything about me.”

Peters plans to have a final decision within the next couple of months.

“I sat down with my head coach and he said he wants me to have a decision before my senior season so I'm leaning towards the start of the season,” he said. “The first game is Sept. 6 so somewhere around then, I’m hoping. It's no rush.”
