No 4 Auburn (Ala.) High went on the road and defeated No. 2 McGill-Toolen (Ala.) 29-28 in overtime on Friday night.
An extremely entertaining back-and-forth game ended with a dramatic overtime finale. McGill-Toolen quarterback and Auburn commit Jason Smith scored on a 10-yard touchdown run on the first play of overtime to give the Yellow Jackets a 28-21 lead. Auburn High quarterback and Texas A&M commit Cameron Echols-Luper answered right back throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to bring the Tigers within 28-27.
But instead of kicking the extra point and heading to double overtime, Auburn High went for the win.
Echols-Luper took the shotgun snap and outraced the defenders for the two-point conversion as Auburn knocked off McGill-Toolen in a 6A classic.
Below is the final play of the game and a brief postgame interview with Auburn High five-star linebacker and Auburn commit Reuben Foster.
