Nixon on Wednesday announced he had narrowed his long list of offers to 10. The shortened list includes Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Duke, Oregon and Penn State.
Nixon made the decision "after careful consideration with my family."
Nixon, 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, and his mother both visited Auburn on May 9. They spent time with Fountain and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
"I loved it," Nixon said after the visit. "I really had a good time. Me, Coach Lashlee and my mom sat down and watched film. He actually showed me where he would put me on the field. He definitely sees me as a playmaker."
Nixon, from Viera, Fla., left Auburn with plans to return.
"They are toward the top," he said.
Rivals.com ranks Nixon the No. 41 wideout, No. 205 in the Rivals250 and No. 28 player in Florida.

AU FINALIST FOR 2017 RIVALS100 QB

St. James (La.) junior quarterback Lowell Narcisse will make his commitment on July 27, he announced Tuesday via Twitter.
Narcisse, a 2017 Rivals100 to Watch prospect, will choose either in-state LSU, Auburn, Alabama or Clemson during a 5 p.m. CT ceremony.
Narcisse, 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, visited Auburn in the spring for the A-Day game.
"We really enjoyed it," Narcisse said after the game. "(My family) really liked it. They enjoyed the game and seeing the facilities and dorms."
The coaches, too.
"The coaches care more about you. They don't just care about on the field, but off the field, too," he said. "They enjoyed me coming down here. They were surprised I came here instead of going to LSU's spring game."
