Grad transfer Rayjon Tucker 'can't wait' for Auburn visit

One of the country’s most-coveted graduate transfers will be in Auburn this weekend.

Rayjon Tucker, a wing at Arkansas-Little Rock last season, is scheduled to arrive in Auburn Friday for a two-night official visit.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it,” Tucker said. “It will be my first visit to Auburn and I can’t wait to see it. I want to get an overall feel for Auburn. I want to see what the staff is like and how the guys are, how I interact with them. I want to see what the campus life is like and I want to see the coaches and players.”

One coach Tucker is anxious to see is assistant Wes Flanigan. The two have a prior relationship with Flanigan having recruited Tucker to Arkansas-Little Rock in 2017.

“(Flanigan) was my first coach when I got to Little Rock, so I’m definitely excited to link back up with him and see what Auburn is about,” Tucker said. “I’m also excited to see Coach (Bruce) Pearl. I talk to him a lot, almost every day. He’s let me know that he wants me.”

Pearl and Auburn aren’t the only ones that want Tucker. Although Tucker has declared for the NBA draft, he’s kept open the possibility of returning to college. Should he choose to return, he would have one year of eligibility. Tucker only has to choose where he would use it.

Tucker already has taken an official visit to West Virginia. He’ll be in Auburn this weekend and is scheduled to take an official visit to Memphis April 25-27 and one to Iowa State May 3-5. Tucker also is considering South Carolina and Kansas.

Tucker, who started all 30 games as a junior, averaged 20.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1% from 3-point range.
