AUBURN | Fullback Chase Lasater had high expectations for his first visit to Auburn over the weekend, and it didn’t disappoint.

Lasater and his parents spent two nights in Auburn touring the campus and facilities and meeting with the players and coaches.

“I had a great time,” Lasater said. “I love the family atmosphere and the beautiful campus."

Lasater, from Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., received an offer from Auburn in early January, but the Tigers since have changed offensive coordinators. Rhett Lashlee left for UConn; Chip Lindsey was hired as the replacement on Saturday.

The change in coordinators has Lasater unsure of where he now stands with Auburn.

“Since they got the new OC, they just want to wait,” Lasater said. “I was just wondering what type of scheme (Lindsey) is going to run. He said spread and power and I like the power with the H-back. I'd like to know 100 percent their intent and all that.”

Lasater hopes to find out Auburn’s intent soon.

“I'm pretty sure Coach (Gus) Malzahn and Coach (Herb) Hand are going to come out and see me at the house and from there, I'll know if I'm going to be committing or not,” Lasater said. “They should be out (Monday) or if not, they'll be Tuesday.”

Should Lasater receive confirmation from Auburn that he has a spot in its 2017 class, he likely would take it.

“I just want to make sure it's a 100-percent thing before I make a final decision,” Lasater said. “I don’t want to commit and throw away my other options.”

Lasater, a former Michigan commitment, is still considering the Wolverines, as well as Memphis and Miami. Auburn, he said, remains his “main school.” He hopes to find out soon whether or not the feeling is mutual.

Rivals ranks Lasater, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 224 pounds, the No. 4 fullback in the class.
