Echols-Luper going back home to Texas

Auburn (Ala.) High athlete Cameron Echols-Luper hasn't decided on which college he will attend, but the 6-foot, 190-pound athlete decided earlier in his recruitment what state it would be in.
Echols-Luper was determined to play college football back in his home state of Texas. His stepfather Curtis Luper, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Auburn, knew it.
So did Auburn head coach Gene Chizik.
"I told them that I was going back to Texas to play," said Echols-Luper. "I told them that I always wanted to go back to where I'm from and play college football."
With his stepfather being a college coach, Echols-Luper has been on the move for much of his young life. He's lived in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and now Alabama.
His mother and stepfather have seen him play. Echols-Luper would like for his grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins to do the same. They are all still in Texas.
"I have offers from several schools from all across the country," he said. "But I never really entertained any except for the ones from schools in Texas. The only schools I visited were TCU and Texas A&M."
Echols-Luper received offers from TCU, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Maryland, Illinois, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Southern Miss and Wake Forest to name a few. The absence of Auburn on the list goes back to him wanting to play in Texas.
"After I told my stepdad and Coach Chizik that I was going to play college football in Texas, my recruitment from them never progressed to the point of them offering," said Echols-Luper. "I love Auburn, but I wanted to go home. I want to go back to Texas."
All that is left for him to do now is decide which college in the Lone Star State.

He'll announce his decision Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. CT.
