AUBURN, Ala. | Woody Barrett committed to Auburn in June. Now, the talented quarterback from West Orange in Winter Garden, Fla., is working to enroll as soon as possible.
Barrett 6-foot-2 and 221 pounds, took an Algebra 2 course this summer with the intention of graduating high school in December and enrolling at Auburn in January.
"It's really important to me," Barrett said. "The quicker I can come here and learn the plays, learn the offense, the better chance I'll have on the field."
Barrett begins practice Monday with the opening game against Foundation Academy on Aug. 28.
"I'm focused more on winning and becoming more successful, not only on the field, but off the field," Barrett said. "I do feel myself getting better everyday. I'm just working, that's all I do, work 24/7, the grind don't stop, can't stop, won't stop."
Barrett spent last weekend in Auburn, attending Saturday's cookout with a number of the Tigers' commitments and top targets.
"It was really important because I wanted to show my parents what type of environment I will be living in and why this place feels like home to me," he said. "From what I've seen and what I've heard, they're excited about it. I'm ready to be an Auburn Tiger."
Barrett spent a lot of time at the cookout with other top prospects including 2017 offensive tackle commit Calvin Ashley, wide receiver commit Elijah Stove and wide receiver Marquis McClain, who committed to Auburn after the cookout.
"It's important to surround yourself with great athletes and great people with positive vibes that have the same determination that I have," Barrett said.
Barrett recently tweeted that he still planned to visit other school. That's apparently not the case.
"I'm going to be honest with you, I was just joking around," he said. "I will be here Georgia and the Alabama game for my official."
