AUBURN -- Linebacker Deshaun Davis was one of many prospects taking in Auburn's Junior Day.
Davis didn't come away with an offer from the Tigers, but plans to contact the coaches next week. The Vigor High product spent most the day with assistant coach Dameyune Craig and discussed how he'd fit into the defense.
"They said that's something to get back in touch with them next week," Davis said. "He said they want to look at my size. They like my size for the position they're recruiting me at. So I'll call them next week. It's basically like an athletic outside linebacker that can cover receivers."
The 6-foot, 225-pounder says he holds official offers from South Carolina, Tennessee and Northern Illinois, and has been contacted by Miami, Louisville, Clemson, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Georgia.
Davis said he and his mother like the idea of playing in his home state.
"My mom wouldn't have to travel real far," Davis said. "She'll travel to Africa to watch me play, but (Auburn) would be a quick ride for her. And she's always been an Auburn fan herself."
Would Auburn jump to the top of Davis' list if it offered?
"Definitely," Davis said. "Right now I can't speak too much on it because right now I don't have a scholarship offer from them. But definitely if they were to offer they'd jump to No. 1 real quick.
"This would have to be my favorite school if they offered me. I feel the love."
