Andy Boykin knew he wanted to commit to Auburn, and didn’t see any reason to wait.
So he didn’t.
Boykin, a sophomore defensive end from Troup High in Lagrange, Ga., announced his commitment to the Tigers Tuesday morning.
"It’s the right time now because right now nobody has a lead like Auburn," Boykin told Rivals.com.
Boykin, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 250 pounds, has been a regular visitor at Auburn since his freshman year. He’s attended most games at Jordan-Hare Stadium this season, including the Tigers’ 40-17 win over Georgia.
"I have visited Auburn over 10 times and I love it over there," Boykin said. "It feels like a family there. I love the atmosphere, the coaches are great and it has been my top school for a while."
Boykin is the first commitment for Auburn in the 2020 class. He chose Auburn over early offers from Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Syracuse, Jacksonville State, Troy and Florida Atlantic.
"Auburn just feels like my second home," Boykin said. "Every time I’m down in Auburn, they show lots of love and it’s just family."
