With No. 1 Auburn’s 94-78 win over No. 17 Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Saturday afternoon, Dylan Cardwell earned his 115th win as a member of the Tigers, making him the winningest player in the program’s history.
Cardwell tied Jaylin Williams, who played for Auburn from 2019-24, at 114 wins after the Tigers’ 106-76 home win over Ole Miss on Wednesday night. Auburn’s first win in Lexington since 1988, and the victory that clinched it a share of the SEC regular season title, put Cardwell over the top.
“I don’t know if and when that ever gets broken,” AU coach Bruce Pearl said. “That could become a record that doesn’t get broken. We didn’t think Jaylin Williams would last time.
“I just don’t know that I could be happier for anybody more than Jaylin Williams who could have left every time we brought in somebody like a Jabari Smith and just competed. And Dylan Cardwell, we’ve talked about it before.”
The Augusta, Ga., native is in his fifth season with the Tigers. Coming out of high school, Rivals had Cardwell listed as a four-star recruit, the No. 131 player nationally and the No. 20 center in the class of 2020.
Throughout his tenure with the program, Cardwell has appeared in 157 games and has averaged 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, one assist and 1.6 blocks per contest.
The 6-foot-11 veteran has taken on a bigger role for the Tigers this season as he has started all 29 of their games at center. Cardwell is shooting 67 percent from the field this season and is averaging a career-high 19.6 minutes and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Cardwell and the rest of the Tigers return to action on Tuesday night, taking on No. 12 Texas A&M in their final road contest of the season. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT and ESPN will carry the broadcast.
