AUBURN | Oxford linebacker K.J. Britt committed to Auburn last Monday, and since has taken it upon himself to help others want to do the same.

The Tigers’ 2017 class is ranked No. 16 in the country, according to Rivals. That’s not high enough for Britt.

“I’ve got some targets to go after,” Britt said. “I’m going to try to get this thing going.”

The four-star recruit has been communicating with several of Auburn’s uncommitted targets, including fellow four-star linebacker recruit Tyler Taylor, safety Devon Hunter, defensive back CJ Avery and wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman.

“(I want) to get this class rolling,” Britt said.

Britt had the opportunity this weekend to meet with many of Auburn’s commitments. Linebackers Tadarian Moultry and Chandler Wooten both were in Auburn on Saturday for unofficial visits, while Britt was on campus for an official visit.

Britt had visited Auburn several times before his weekend stay, and although it was his first time as a commitment, the feeling he had was still the same.

“That’s why I’m committed,” Britt said. “I wanted the same atmosphere no matter what school I was going to commit to. Consistency was the key and that’s why I’m here.”

Britt had time during his visit to meet extensively with the Auburn coaches, most notably linebackers coach Travis Williams.

“They were all telling me that they’re glad I’m going to be here,” Britt said.

Britt plans to return in two weeks for Auburn’s final home game of the season. The Tigers host Alabama A&M on Nov. 19. He is scheduled to graduate high school in December and hopes to be enrolled at Auburn in time for bowl practices.

“That’s going to be big,” Britt said. “I’m going to try to show them what I’ve got. I know they know some of the things I can do, but it will be different seeing it on the practice field. Coming down and practicing and doing what I do.”

Rivals ranks Britt, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 223 pounds, the No. 5 inside linebacker in the class and No. 117 in the Rivals250.
