AUBURN | Devon Hunter got to do something Saturday he’d be wanting to check off his list.

The No. 3-ranked safety in the 2017 recruiting class attended his first Auburn game, and it didn’t disappoint.

“It was special to me,” Hunter said. “I’ve always wanted to go to a game, always wanted to check out the Tigers. They played really well. They played great as a team, as a whole unit.”

Auburn routed No. 17-ranked Arkansas, 56-3, and broke the regular-season record for rushing yards in an SEC game with 543 yards.

“Auburn played great in a big game against a great team,” Hunter said. “They were fundamentally sound and did what they had to do. It was great seeing the d-line get after the quarterback. They didn’t give him much time, and seeing how the DBs played, their technique, it was great being able to see it all in person.”

Hunter made trip to Auburn from his home in Chesapeake, Va. It was an unofficial visit, which was his third to Auburn. Hunter spent a lot of time with his primary recruiter and Auburn defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff. The two have developed a strong bond since McGriff arrived at Auburn in January.
