Auburn 'up there' for Georgia DT

AUBURN | Liberty County (Ga.) defensive tackle Tramel Walthour intends to take his time in making his college choice, and it seems to be working out for him.

Walthour recently added offers from Georgia and Auburn to bring his total to 20, and more could be on the way. The in-state Bulldogs offered in May, and the Tigers followed suit days later.

“It’s exciting to get offered by a big-time school that wants you to play for them,” Walthour said.

Soon after receiving the offer from Auburn, Walthour visited for the Tigers’ Big Cat event on June 3.

“It was a great experience,” Walthour said. “I had a lot of fun. Auburn has a great campus and it was great seeing everything.”

Walthour plans to return to Auburn before the fall and before he makes his commitment. The Tigers moved up his list after Big Cat.

“I really like it,” Walthour said. “Auburn is up there at the top.”

Walthour also has visited Georgia, Georgia Southern and Kentucky, and plans more trips this summer before he makes his decision in the fall.

“I’ll probably make it late in the season,” he said.

Rivals ranks Walthour, who is 6-foot-3 and weighs 270 pounds, the No. 41 defensive tackle in the 2018 class and No. 50 player in Georgia.
