Auburn solidifies spot in Black's top group after visit
AUBURN | Rivals100 wide receiver Tarik Black had visited Auburn several times, but never attended a game.
Black, from Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Conn., finally changed that Saturday night while on an official visit. The four-star recruit and his parents were among a sellout crowd inside Jordan-Hare Stadium for the Tigers’ 51-14 win over Arkansas State.
“The visit was great. That was my first time seeing a game here and it was awesome,” Black said. “The atmosphere was awesome.”
Black was impressed with Auburn’s offense, which racked up 706 yards, including 462 yards on the ground and 244 through the air.
“The offense did great,” Black said. “They ran the ball well, passed the ball well. I like the way they throw the ball downfield. That was very important to me.”
So was seeing Auburn’s freshmen on the field. Four true freshmen caught at least one pass in the Tigers’ big win, including Darius Slayton, who led the younger guys with three catches for 55 yards.
