Amari Clemons had never been to Auburn before.

That changed last week, when Clemons made his first visit to the Plains Monday. Overall, his first trip went well and he's hoping to return this fall.

"The visit was amazing," Clemons said. "Not to mention the running backs coach, really smart. The stadium, it was crazy. I didn’t have any words, I was just enjoying it."

With 13 total offers, the three-star running back was offered by Auburn back in April. He finally made the trip to Auburn from his hometown of Marianna, Fla., where got to see the Tigers' facilities, met with coaches and went over some schemes with running backs coach Derrick Nix.

"I evaluated how the coaches coached and watched the players practice," Clemons said. "[Nix] is smart, honest, he knows how the recruiting process goes. He understands what’s going on and stuff like that. He’s also big on his faith."

That's an important factor for Clemons, who heard from plenty of schools when contact opened for the 2026 class on June 15. Auburn was one of the schools that reached out, and the Tigers' message is more than just football.

"It’s a good school, it’s a good community, they don’t want to just know you as a football player," Clemons said the message was. "They also want to build you as a better character, make you grow, not just on the field but off the field. Inside the classroom and stuff like that."

Following his first trip, does Clemons think it's a place he'll get back to?

"Yeah, on a gameday, got to, it’s a must," Clemons said.
