Spanish Fort (Ala.) four-star linebacker Tre Threat will end his recruitment on Thursday when he announces his choice between Auburn and Ole Miss at 11 a.m. CT.
It's a little earlier than Threat had planned.
"I was going to do it Aug. 21," he said. "But I've talked to my parents, other people and players at the schools I'm choosing between, and felt good about my decision. I prayed to God, and after I did that I knew it is the right decision and than I'm ready to get it out of the way."
Threat, 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, will commit to either the Tigers or Rebels during a ceremony inside the gymnasium at Spanish Fort High School.
"I'm not going to put the hats on the table," Threat said. "I'm just going to pull out of a bag the hat with the school of my choice."
The No. 10 inside linebacker can't go wrong with either.
"I can't," he said. "They are both great schools with great coaches and great programs. It's a win-win. I'm very fortunate to even have this opportunity. I feel very blessed and very grateful."
Threat recently visited both Ole Miss and Auburn and has several reasons for having the two SEC schools as his finalists.
"With Ole Miss, I have visited a few times and I love it there," Threat said. "I love the campus, the coaches and the players. The last time I visited I didn't get to see them practice, but I talked to a bunch of players and know how serious they are taking it. I think they are going to continue being good.
"I've also been to a couple of games there and the atmosphere is crazy. Their fans are awesome. I really like Ole Miss."
He really likes Auburn, too, although for different reasons.
"I grew up an Auburn fan, but looking at it from an academic standpoint, it's a good fit because of their medical program," Threat said. "I've always had the desire and interest to go to medical school, and if I were to get hurt in college I want something else to be there to back me up.
"Also at Auburn, I love (linebackers) Coach Lance Thompson. I've known him since I visited Alabama early my sophomore year. Coach (Will) Muschamp is awesome, too. He's a players' coach and he gets after it. He's a smart guy, very intelligent. I like all of the coaches at the Auburn."
Rivals.com ranks Threat the No. 9 player from Alabama in the 2016 class.
