AUBURN | Camron Johnson visited Auburn for the first time last weekend and is already planning to return.

In fact, Auburn is already a team to watch in the recruitment of the 2018 wide receiver from Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy, who has six early offers.

“They're definitely a school I'm considering high up there,” Johnson said. “Today definitely helped it a lot to see because this was my first time to visit Auburn. It was definitely an important day for me as far as where Auburn stands as one of my top schools.”

What stood out to Johnson during his visit?

“Everything Auburn has to offer from a player perspective to off the field life. I got to see what they do and it was definitely a great visit,” he said.

“I thought it was amazing. They definitely have some of the best dorms I've seen. The facilities are top-notch, of course. Everything being so close together was nice to see.”

Johnson spent a lot of time with first-year Auburn wide receivers coach Kodi Burns.

“I definitely liked him. He's a cool guy and related to me a lot,” Johnson said. “He knew what it was like to be a multi-sport athlete. He played at Auburn so to get some of his insight and some of his advice when it comes to the recruiting process and to get to hang out with him was an important experience.”

Johnson, 6-foot and 176 pounds, has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Louisville and Illinois. He’s in no hurry to make a decision and wants to continue to visit the schools that are recruiting him.

He also plans to return to Auburn as early as Sept. 3.

“I'll probably end up coming down to the Clemson game,” he said. “If I don't, I'll definitely find a way to get to a game for sure sometime this upcoming season.”

Johnson caught 47 passes for 985 yards a eight touchdowns as a sophomore. He also intercepted three passes including one he returned for a touchdown. He caught the winning two-point conversion in Brentwood’s 56-55 win over Montgomery Bell Academy in the Division II-AA state championship game.
