Auburn defeats Miles College to move to 4-0

Auburn used a season-high 15 steals to put away Miles College 79-58 on Tuesday at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.
"It wasn't a great game by any stretch of the imagination," head coach Jeff Lebo said. "We shot poorly and turned the ball over too much."

The Tigers were led by sophomore Rasheem Barrett's 19 points, which included a perfect six-for-six from the foul line. Junior Frank Tolbert chipped in 18 points, while sophomore Korvotney Barber recorded his second double-double of the season with 14 boards and 13 points.
Freshman Lucas Hargrove registered a season-high 13 points and tied his season-best with six rebounds.
The Golden Bears went 10-of-30 from the arc, led by Andrew Jones' five treys for 24 points. Anthony Ward grabbed 10 rebounds but was also one of three Miles players to foul out.
After the Golden Bears cut the AU lead to seven early in the second half, the Tigers began to pull away and never let Miles to within 14 the rest of the way. Auburn shot 50 percent (12-of-24) from the field in the second stanza, including 5-of-11 from three-point land.
Auburn trailed by as many as four to start the game, until 10 straight points by Tolbert gave the Tigers an 18-11 lead. AU began to pull away, leading 24-15, thanks in part to a 16-4 run, but four straight three-pointers gave Miles the lead back, 27-24.
After tying the game at 28, the Tigers finished the half on a 15-5 run to take a 43-33 advantage into the half, led by Tolbert's 16 points.
"I don't think we played well at all during the first half," Lebo said. "We just went through the motions tonight."
Auburn (4-0) will now head to South Padre, Texas to face Oklahoma State in the semifinal round of the South Padre Invitational on Friday, Nov. 24 at 1:30 p.m. CT on CSTV. The championship and third round game will be Saturday against either No. 7 Wisconsin or Missouri State.
