Jeawon Taylor had his final spring practice of high school on Thursday, and it's one he won't soon forget.
Taylor, a three-star safety from Park Crossing in Montgomery, had an extra pair of eyes in attendance.
"Coach T-Rob came by," Taylor said of Auburn secondary coach Travaris Robinson. "He came by and watched practice, which was pretty cool. A lot of coaches have come by, but it was cool seeing Coach T-Rob."
Taylor, 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, will be at Opelika tonight. Park Crossing travels to play the Bulldogs in a spring game, but will be without Taylor's teammate, Rivals250 linebacker P.J. Blue, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.
"We practiced a little, got ready for the game when Coach T-Rob was there," Taylor said. "I called the defense, did a good job and prepared for the game with him watching."
In addition to Auburn, coaches from Florida, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Ole Miss, Memphis, Kentucky and Mississippi State, among others, stopped at Park Crossing this spring for an evaluation visit.
Taylor visited Auburn for A-Day and left high on the Tigers. He remains that way, although he also has interest elsewhere.
"Auburn is still high on my list and I'll be at Big Cat Weekend later this month, but I don't have a leader, a specific order or a top group because I don't want to limit myself and my options," Taylor said. "I'm really high on the schools that are high on me."
There are several. Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Memphis, Missouri, North Carolina and Arkansas State, among others, already have offered. Alabama, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt could be close.
"(Alabama defensive coordinator) Coach Kirby Smart came down during the spring and said he really liked me and wanted to offer me, but he had to talk to Coach Saban. I hope to hear back from them. That would be a big offer. My whole family is big Alabama fans."
Adding more offers is the primary reason Taylor doesn't want to rush a decision.
"I'm still taking my time, looking at all my options because I want to make sure I make the best decision for me," Taylor said. "There are a lot of schools I still want to visit like Louisville. Louiville gets guys to the League. They had a big draft and they are going to be good. I want to get up there and see what it's like. There are a lot of other schools, too.
"I'm not going to set a time or date to make a commitment. I'll just do it when it feels right."
