AUBURN | There will be two Muschamps on Auburn's sidelines when the Tigers open the season this fall. Robert Muschamp, the nephew of Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, will join the team this summer.
Muschamp chose to walk-on at Auburn over scholarship offers from Air Force, Army, Central Arkansas and Wofford.
"I've been in contact with my uncle and Coach Horton," Muschamp said. "I've been talking to Coach Horton about it for a while now, since before Will was even there. Will got there and I talked to him about it even more.
"They offered me the spot last night and the first thing he (Will) told me is, 'You're going to earn everything you get. I'm not going to give you anything. You're going to get treated just like any other player. You're going to have to earn it.' I wouldn't want it any other way. I called him back this morning and told him I'm going to accept it."
Muschamp, 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, has grown up on Auburn. His mother, Sally, is a graduate and his older brother, Jordan, is a current student.
"Growing up it was my dream school," Muschamp said. "I always wanted to end up back at Auburn. I'm stoked, honestly. It's kind of a dream come true. I can't wait to get down there."
Muschamp was a standout linebacker and H-back at Darlington High School in Rome, Ga.
