The nation's No. 1 strongside defensive end has signed a Financial Aid Agreement with Auburn.
Greenville's Marlon Davidson, who has been "75 percent" committed to Auburn since September, signed the non-binding agreement on Wednesday.
Davidson signed the FAA with Auburn after reconsidering Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Florida. A FAA does not bind Davidson, an early enrollee, to attend classes at Auburn in January. It only binds Auburn to uphold its scholarship offer to Davidson.
The benefit for the Tigers is the FAA opens doors during the dead period, which started Monday and runs through Jan. 13, the first day of classes at Auburn. The Tigers are allowed to have unlimited contact with Davidson and also comment publicly about him.
Davidson is Auburn's second commitment to sign a FAA. Madison Academy four-star running back/athlete Malik Miller signed on Monday. Four-star tight end Landon Rice is set to sign Wednesday at noon CT.
Although the FAA is non binding, Davidson said it ends his recruitment.
"I'm done when I sign those papers," Davidson said Tuesday.
Davidson was in Auburn for an official visit on Dec. 4-6. It was the first and only official visit he took. It was the only one he needed.
"You want somebody to actually want you and actually needs you," Davidson said following his visit. "That's what school you want to go to. You don't want to go to a school that doesn't really need you and will just hang you up on a shelf in a trophy case. You don't want that.
"You walk around Auburn and see everybody and they say 'War Eagle!' That's what you want to be around. Auburn is a school where everybody should want to come to."
Rivals.com ranks Davidson the No. 2 player in Alabama and No. 9 in the country in 2016.
"I love Auburn and always have," Davidson said during his commitment ceremony in September. "It feels like home to me. It's my dream school."
Davidson's older brother, Ken Carter, played at Auburn and is a member of Gus Malzahn's support staff.
"I love it at Auburn," Davidson said. "It was the best choice for my brother and now it's the best choice for me."
