4-star LB commits to Auburn

A day after returning home from an overnight visit to Auburn, Tucker linebacker Michael Harris announced his decision to commit to the Tigers.

Harris, a four-star recruit, made his choice known Monday on Twitter.

“With so many great schools offering me a scholarship, it was not a simple process,” Harris wrote. “I’d like to thank each and every school for recruiting me, but with the love and support of my family, friends, coach and Tucker High Nation, I am announcing my commitment to Auburn University.”

Harris, who is ranked the No. 9 outside linebacker in the class, chose Auburn over several offers, including ones from Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and LSU.

“Auburn has shown me love and been with me throughout the process,” Harris told Rivals.com’s Chad Simmons. “I love their family environment and everything about Auburn. Every time I go to Auburn, the love is tremendous.”

Auburn linebackers coach Travis Williams played a major role in Harris’ decision.

“He cared about me and that’s what I need,” Harris said. “I feel like I made a great relationship with him.”

Harris is Auburn’s 10th commitment in the 2018 class and second since the Cookout on Saturday (defensive athlete Josh Marsh).

And the Tigers might not be done with commitments this week.

Four-star safety Jamien Sherwood is set to announce his commitment on Tuesday. Auburn is believed to be the favorite.
