AUBURN | Auburn on Saturday hosted several recruits that have three-star rankings from Rivals.com, including one that committed and another that already had.
Upson Lee (Thomaston, Ga.) three-star defensive lineman David Marshall announced his intentions to sign with Auburn after another visit to the Plains. Wenonah (Birmingham, Ala.) three-star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams committed in February after his previous visit.
Other recruits that visited and have a three-star ranking were Florence (Ala.) fullback/linebacker Erroll Thompson, Cedar Grove (Ellenwood, Ga.) linebacker Elysee Mbem-Bosse and Mount Dora (Fla.) center Brett Heggie.
Here is what the five recruits ranked three-stars by Rivals had to say about their day in Auburn...
Birmingham, Ala. (Wenonah)
On his visit…
"It feels wonderful to come back. I really just wanted to come back and get along with the new guys and the new recruits, see their faces and meet them."
On who all he met with and hung out with during the visit..
"I hung out with (five-star DE) Marlon Davidson and David Marshall, Coach (Rodney) Garner, Coach (Will) Muschamp and a few other guys. I'm getting to know the coaches more on a personal basis. They are great coaches and I really like them."
Florence, Ala. (Florence)
On his visit…
"It was good. I enjoyed the Auburn coaching staff. It was really Auburn family like they preach it. I loved it."
On an offer…
"They told me I play the game the right way. I'm physical. They told me I play fast and I'm the type of guy they are looking for. They said they're going to recruit me heavy and that they'll be down in spring (to evaluate me more).
"It would be really big (if Auburn offered). My mom and dad are really huge Auburn fans."
What position Auburn is recruiting him to play…
"As a linebacker and on the offensive side as an H-back/fullback. Either side is cool with me."
On Muschamp and Lance Thompson…
"They're really passionate about the game. They know what they're talking about, and are really good coaches. Other than football, they're really good family men. I take that into account."
Ellenwood, Ga. (Cedar Grove)
On his visit…
"It went great. I got to walk around and see everything, put on a jersey and met with the coaches. It was a great experience. I really like what they are doing here. I had a good meeting with my position coach, Coach Thompson. We have a great relationship so far."
On an offer…
"They said they are very interested and would be keeping in touch. Right now, I have offers from Tennessee, Michigan, Ole Miss, N.C. State, Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa, Ole Dominion and Wake Forest."
College Park, Ga. (Woodward Academy)
On his visit…
"I highly enjoyed the day. I liked seeing everything, going around and seeing the campus and facilities. This was my first time here, and it was pretty cool to come here where my cousin played and was an All-American."
Go on…
"Craig Ogletree is my second cousin. He's my stepdad's cousin, but we are really close. I'll definitely be going back and speaking to him about it. That's pretty cool."
On his recruitment…
"The last offer I received was from North Carolina about a week ago, and that was good but I'm committed to Duke and still feel very good about it. (Other offers are) Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin, among others."
On an offer from Auburn…
"They haven't offered, yet, but they said they have high interest in me. I'm going to try and come back for a spring practice, see how they coach and stuff."
Mount Dora, Fla. (Mount Dora)
On his visit…
"It was a good visit. It was good to see all of the facilities and the coaches again. All of the facilities are top-notch. I like how compact the university is, how everything is so close. It makes it a lot easier on the athletes. It was an overall great visit."
On an offer…
"Coach (J.B.) Grimes said he was looking more for tackles, and that he didn't know yet if they were going to take a center this year. He's going to come down in the spring and watch me in practice, and maybe decide then."
On his recruitment…
"It's speeding up. I'm up to 10 offers. I'm probably going to take a visit to South Carolina for their spring game, and visit West Virginia and Marshall this summer. I haven't decided where else, yet, but I will take more visits.
"I'll make a commitment whenever I feel like I'm ready. I don't have any leaders."
