Auburn has received a commitment from a speedy, in-state wide receiver.

Noah Igbinoghene, a football and track standout at Hewitt-Trussville, announced Thursday his intentions to sign with Auburn.

“I think it’s the best decision for me,” Igbinoghene said. “It’s close to home, close to my family so they can come and watch me play.”

Igbinoghene’s commitment comes nearly three weeks after receiving an offer from Auburn. He also considered offers from Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Duke, Cincinnati and Missouri, among others.

Igbinoghene entered the fall with Notre Dame and Duke at the top of his list. He took an official visit to Notre Dame in October, and was planning to visit Duke. Following his commitment, the only visit left to take is one to Auburn.

“I’ll take it in January,” Igbinoghene said. “I’m excited about Auburn. I have a good relationship with Coach (Kodi) Burns, and we run the exact same offense at Hewitt-Trussville as they do at Auburn.”

Igbinoghene also will run track at Auburn. His top events include the long jump, triple jump and 100-meter dash.

“Auburn has great programs in football and in track, so I’m excited to be able to do both,” he said. “Auburn is just a great fit for me.”

Igbinoghene, who stands six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds, had 55 receptions for 712 yards (12.9 avg.) and eight touchdowns as a senior. He also rushed for 751 yards and 10 touchdowns on 94 carries.

In three seasons at Hewitt-Trussville, Igbinoghene finished with 99 receptions for 1,379 yards and 16 touchdowns, and 944 yards and 10 scores on 126 carries.

Igbinoghene is Auburn’s 15th commitment in the 2017 class and first wide receiver. Seven of the 15 commitments are from Alabama.
