AUBURN, Ala. | Pace Academy wide receiver Trey Blount visited Auburn on Thursday. The four-star recruit from Atlanta watched the Tigers practice, saw more of the campus and facilities and most importantly met with Auburn first-year receivers coach Kodi Burns.

“That’s what I really wanted to do,” Blount said. “I wanted to meet Coach Burns, see what he’s like and also what he thinks of me. I was really happy to be able to do all of that.”

Blount also was happy with the results. Burns, the former Auburn receiver, made a good first impression on Blount.

“(Burns) is 27 and I definitely like how he can relate to some of the things us young men are going through and what we experience in college,” Blount said. “I enjoyed watching him during practice and what he does with his receivers. He also showed me how he could use me in the offense and said that he needs receivers that can step in and play and really would like to coach me.”

Blount is considering taking Burns up on the offer. Although the receiver doesn’t list a leader, Auburn solidified itself in Blount’s top group of schools and a lot of it has to do with Burns.

“Auburn is definitely one of my top schools,” Blount said. “Coach Burns needs guys that are ready to play and I definitely want the opportunity to compete as a freshman. I really liked Coach Burns. I enjoyed watching him and I really enjoyed meeting with him. He’s just a really genuine guy, a great guy."

Blount, who is ranked the No. 48 receiver in the 2017 class, will return to Auburn for the Tigers’ season opener against Clemson. His next scheduled visit is to Georgia for the Bulldogs’ spring game.

Blount doesn’t expect to make a commitment before the end of the summer.

“I still want to get out and visit a lot of places,” Blount said.

Blount had 36 receptions for 642 yards (17.8 avg.) and nine touchdowns as a junior. Rivals ranks Blount the No. 27 overall player in Georgia.
