Auburn increasing interest

Hewitt Trussville wide receiver Noah Igbinoghene has several scholarship offers, but Auburn isn’t one of them. Not yet.

That could change soon.

Auburn wide receivers coach Kodi Burns has been tracking Igbinoghene’s senior season and has increased his interest.

“Coach Burns came by the school Friday before our game,” Igbinoghene said. “I think Auburn is close to offering.”

It’s easy to see why.

Igbinoghene, who stands six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds, is a gamechanger. He’s proved it though nine games this season. The senior has compiled 1,180 total yards and 17 touchdowns. He has 43 receptions for 569 yards (13.2 avg.) and eight touchdowns, and added 611 rushing yards and nine scores on 68 carries.

Igbinoghene plans to be in Auburn on Saturday for the Tigers’ game against Arkansas. He’s set to travel the following weekend to Notre Dame for an official visit. He’ll also take an official visit to Duke after the season.

“I’ll set one up with Duke for December or January,” Igbinoghene said.

The Irish and Blue Devils have been at the top of his list since the summer, and the two schools remain there in the fall.

“They’re still my top two,” Igbinoghene said.

An offer from Auburn could put the Tigers in contention.

“I’ve been to Auburn before, but I haven’t seen a lot of it,” Igbinoghene said. “I would want to take an official visit there and see more. I know I like their offense. They run the same offense as we do.”

Igbinoghene doesn’t plan to make a commitment anytime soon.

“After I take my officials, I’ll probably make my decision,” he said.
