AUBURN | One visit is all it took for Auburn to move to the top for Jeremy Patton.
Patton, a four-star tight end recruit from Arizona Western Community College in Yuma, took an official visit to Auburn over the weekend and left with the Tigers No. 1.
“Auburn is such a great place with so many great families and so many great people,” Patton said. “It’s amazing. It’s unbeatable.”
Patton toured Auburn’s campus and facilities on Friday. He spent Saturday fishing and eating at Gus Malzahn’s house before touring the stadium and posing for some pictures.
“I had a great time,” Patton said. “It was a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun with the coaches.”
One coach Patton spent a lot of time with was tight ends coach Scott Fountain.
“Coach Fountain is such a great guy,” Patton said. “He seems like a great person and coach that could develop me in every way that I need to be to get here and then to be ready to leave here.”
Patton, who attended high school in Indianapolis, Ind., visited Louisville last weekend. He will be at Arkansas on Wednesday for an official visit and also is considering visits to USC, Alabama, Florida and Ohio State.
Patton plans to announce his decision Aug. 30.
As a freshman at Arizona Western, Patton led the team with four touchdown receptions. He averaged 18.6 yards per catch last season with 17 receptions for 316 yards.
Patton, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 250 pounds, claims a 4.58 40-yard dash.
