AUBURN | Auburn continues to lead for one of the state’s top defensive tackles.

Theodore’s Timajé Porter arrived in Auburn Saturday morning for Junior Day with the Tigers atop his leaderboard. He departed Saturday afternoon with Auburn in the same spot.

“Auburn is still No. 1,” Porter said. “The visit was great. I enjoyed myself a lot.”

Porter was among a large group of recruits at Junior Day. He toured the campus and facilities and met with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner and area recruiter Travis Williams.

“They said they are coming down in the spring to watch me practice,” Porter said. “I got about 3-4 minutes to talk to Coach Garner 1-on-1. He was telling me that he likes my build, how I look, but that I could use getting a few pounds off of me, and I said that I can do that.”

Porter, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 320 pounds, also watched Auburn’s first full-pad practice of the spring. He kept a close eye on Garner.

“It was exciting,” Porter said. “I like Coach Garner’s enthusiasm, how excited he was and how he bounced around with the guys.”

Porter could see more of Garner next fall should the defensive lineman sign with Auburn. The Tigers currently lead both LSU and Florida.“

“It’s the family that they have (at Auburn),” Porter said. “Everybody preaches about it, but you can see it when you come to Auburn. You can see the brotherhood they have as a team. Everybody enjoys each other. I can tell it’s what I would have if I came here, a brotherhood.”

Porter plans to visit LSU on March 18. He said he’d return to Auburn in the summer to participate in a camp. Porter would like to make a commitment sooner rather than later.

“Probably my spring game,” Porter said. “But if not by then, I’ll definitely do it before the season starts.”
