AUBURN | The offensive onslaught continued Tuesday night.
Auburn pounded out 13 hits including nine for extra-bases in a 15-8 win over Samford at Plainsman Park.
The Tigers, which improved to 8-1, have totaled 46 runs over the last four games.
“I thought we did it from start to finish,” said AU coach Butch Thompson. “I think we had chance to score in every inning today. Even when we got to two strikes, we were still hard to deal with.”
Auburn hit four home runs including a solo shot by Cooper McMurray and a three-run blast by Chris Rembert in a five-run second inning. Bub Terrell hit a two-run home run in the third and Eric Snow led off the fourth with a solo home run.
Parker Carlson (1-0) earned the win allowing one run on two hits in 2.2 innings out of the bullpen. He struck out three and didn’t allow a walk.
“I didn’t feel like we got control of the ballgame until Carlson got in,” said Thompson. “And then our offense stayed consistent and played all night.”
Jackson Sanders didn’t allow a run in 0.2 innings and Dylan Watts allowed one hit and struck out five over the final 2.0 innings.
Snow was 3 of 6 with a double, home run and three RBI, Rembert 2 of 4 with a double, home run and four RBI, Terrell 1 of 3 with a home run and two RBI and McMurray 2 of 4 with a double, home run and one RBI.
Lucas Steele was 2 of 4 with two RBI and Deric Fabian 1 of 3 with one RBI.
AU starter Andreas Alvarez allowed five runs, three earned, on four hits in 3.1 innings. John Armstrong gave up two runs on three hits in 0.1 innings as Samford struck for five in the fourth.
