2019 Rivals150 SG remains high on AU

AUBURN | One of the top in-state recruits was in Auburn again on Sunday.

Hazel Green guard Kira Lewis, who is ranked the No. 82 player in the 2019 class, made his third visit to Auburn for the Chuck Person Shooting Camp.

“It was a great experience,” Lewis said.

Lewis spent time at the camp learning under Person, who is the most prolific scorer in Auburn history and now serves as Auburn’s associate head coach to Bruce Pearl.

“It’s always good to learn from a legend,” Lewis said of Person. “He’s still a great shooter.”

Lewis also spent time with Pearl during the visit.

“I got to talk to Coach Pearl about basketball and what he’d want me to do if I came here,” Lewis said.

Lewis is considering playing under Pearl and learning under Person at Auburn. The rising junior continues to have high interest in the Tigers.

“They are up there,” Lewis said. “They are recruiting me pretty hard. I like the direction they are going in. I know they have another top recruiting class coming in, so they should be doing some big things next year. I’m ready to see how they do.”

Lewis also is considering Alabama, Baylor, Dayton and Oklahoma State, among others. He’s not in a hurry to make a commitment.

“I’m just taking it slow,” Lewis said.
