AUBURN | Pinson Valley quarterback Bo Nix ended a busy week of visits Thursday with a return trip to Auburn.
Nix, who is one of the top recruits in the 2019 class, spent the day in Auburn after having visited Alabama, Clemson and Georgia all in the previous days.
“It was definitely a good visit,” Nix said of his third visit to Auburn in less than a month. “It was good to grow my relationship with the coaches.”
Nix and his parents spent time with area recruiter Tim Horton, offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and head coach Gus Malzahn.
“Every time I meet with Coach Lindsey, I feel like we grow closer,” Nix said. “And Coach Horton is one of the finer guys out there, as a coach and as a person. I visited with both of them and watched some video with them. Coach Lindsey talked to me about the offense a little bit and then I went and talked to Coach Malzahn in his office and we had a good conversation.”
Nix, fresh off a QB MVP performance Saturday at The Opening regionals in Atlanta, sat-in on Auburn’s position meetings before watching the Tigers practice.
“Practice was really good; they got after it and were physical,” Nix said. “The defense looked really, really good, especially at d-line and DB. It’s tough for the offense when it’s going up against a good defense like Auburn’s, but the offense did some good things, too, and the quarterbacks looked really good.”
That includes the new guy, transfer Jarrett Stidham.
“Stidham is very accurate and has a strong arm,” Nix said. “He is competitive and was hustling around getting the guys going. Everything that everyone looks for in a quarterback, he has it. He’s really good.”
Nix has nearly two years left before he can sign scholarship papers, and he plans to utilize most, if not all, of his remaining time. With new offers constantly arriving - Georgia, Clemson, LSU and Oklahoma State all within the last week - he’s not in a hurry to end his recruitment.
“I’m not anywhere close to making a decision,” Nix said. “I’m not eliminating anyone, yet, because it’s so early.”
Nix, who is 6-foot-2 and weighs 190 pounds, now lists offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Cincinnati.
“A lot of the schools have similar qualities,” Nix said. “I’m going to take my time and see which one fits me the best.”
