AUBURN | Jalyn Kelly-Powell and Devontae Dobbs, two top recruits from Michigan, visited Auburn Wednesday and each left with a scholarship offer from the Tigers.

Kelly-Powell, who is ranked the No. 27 safety in the 2017 class, and Hobbs, a top offensive lineman in 2019, spent the day working out with coaches and touring the campus and facilities.

“I worked at cornerback and safety with Coach (Kevin) Steele and Coach (Wesley) McGriff,” Kelly-Powell said. “I enjoyed it, learned a lot and think I did pretty good.”

It was Kelly-Powell’s second visit to Auburn.

“The last time I was here I saw the facilities and they really blew me away,” Kelly-Powell said. “I got to see the campus and dorms this time and was amazed at everything.”

Kelly-Powell, who attends Cass Tech in Detroit, intends to return to Auburn for a third visit.

“I want to come back and see how it is when everybody is here,” Kelly-Powell said. “I like it at Auburn and would like to see it again in the fall.”

So would Dobbs, who already stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 270 pounds. The sophomore lineman worked with Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand.

“Coach Hand is really good,” Dobbs said. “He taught me better footwork on my drive-blocking, how to defend a bullrush and other things. He was real positive and I got a good vibe from him.”

Dobbs also received an offer, his 11th to date.

“It felt great,” Dobbs said. “I was thinking positive, just going out there and putting in work and seeing how it goes. i was excited about the offer.”

Dobbs, who is from Belleville, is up to 11 offers, including Auburn, Michigan State, Tennessee, Penn State, Iowa State, Florida, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

“I don’t have any favorites right now,” Dobbs said. “I’m going to take my time and I want to take more visits.”
